Biosense Technologies co-Founders, Aman Midha and Abhishek Sen to attend Echoing Green’s Prestigious leadership retreat in New york city
New York City, August 12, 2010 – Echoing Green, a leading network for next-generation social entrepreneurs, is proudly hosting Aman Midha and Abhishek Sen at its annual retreat for its newest class of fellows – 21 of today’s boldest social change visionaries in the fields of human rights, health, and the environment, among others.
For more than 20 years, Echoing Green has helped inspire and seed some of the world’s most powerful, game-changing institutions such as Teach For America, City Year and SKS Microfinance. Since founded by growth equity firm General Atlantic in 1987, it has invested $29 million in nearly 500 social entrepreneurs.
The 2010 Echoing Green Fellows have created a total of 16 new nonprofit, for-profit or hybrid organizations to solve intractable social problems. Chosen based on a rigorous selection process from a pool of more than 1000 applicants from 73 countries, each venture will receive seed funding of up to $90,000 over two years, health insurance, strategic planning support, legal assistance, and financial modeling, as well as mentoring from Echoing Green’s network of alumni and other leading social change professionals.
During this four-day leadership retreat, Echoing Green Fellows will fly from all over the world to engage in a variety of instructive and inspirational workshops relating to early-stage social entrepreneurship. Presentations will cover topics ranging from navigating the world of social philanthropy and venture capital to designing an efficient and realistic operating plan. By the end of the retreat, fellows should leave with new skills, a broader network, and fresh perspective on their vision for social change as part of the Echoing Green community.
In announcing the this year’s class of fellows, Dr. Cheryl L. Dorsey, President of Echoing Green, said, “Echoing Green’s 2010 fellows are an inspiring group of pragmatic visionaries who, rather than accept the world as it is, see what it can be. Echoing Green is proud to identify the world’s most promising social entrepreneurs, help them bring their ideas to life, and further cultivate their talent.”
Dave Hodgson, Managing Director of General Atlantic, LLC and Chairman of the Echoing Green Board of Directors, said, “Name the need – hunger, housing, fighting disease, connecting citizens who care, doing greater good with technologies – and you will find Echoing Green Fellows at work on creating solutions all over the world. We look forward to welcoming this new class of innovators into our robust network.”
